Paints For The Paint God! Inks for His Inky Throne!!!

*ahem*

It’s not an easy task, painting your Warhammer 40K army. Just ask Dave, he’s getting high on glue and paint fumes. No seriously, he complains that his head is sore and that there are unnatural colours forming before his eyes (surely a breach in the Warp I feel) but I suspect he can’t get enough. I however am a hardier individual than my Kosher Colleague, and I’m well versed in the fine art of model making and painting. And that’s what this post is about: paints! Lovely Citadel paints, Inks, Metallics and maybe just a little bit of an ‘ardcoat (Ally, stop sniggering!) It’s taken me weeks of choosing and fretting, but finally I have decided on the colour scheme for my Freebooter Horde!

It was a choice between two colour schemes, one based of my classic scheme featuring alot of blues and greys, or a new QOTPA-influenced Orange and Black theme. Well, I decided to try somethgin new and use colours I hadn’t tried before, so bright and shiny orange it is. With my colour scheme decided it was time to pick my paints!

For the main Oranges, I’m going with Blazing Orange, with Fiery Orange and Golden Yellow for highlights!

Chaos Black, Fortress Grey and Shadow Grey will provide the contrasting dark tints, and of course, Skull White for Teef and making those Oranges extra-snazzy!

I’m nowhere near skilled or brave enough to try NMM’s, so I’m going to stick with what I know – Burnished Gold and Brazen Brass for the Shinies, Tin Bitz for buckles and whatnot, and Boltgun Metal for the Dakka!

Now usually, I’d be really lazy and use Snakebite Leather for straps and clothing, shaded with a bit of Devlan Mud. However, I’m again going to try something different and try Scorched Brown with a Graveyard Earth highlight. Trying to keep the colours bright to make my Freebooterz really eye-catching!

And the colour that eventually drives all Ork players absolutely stark-raving mad: Green! So, so much Green! Want my boyz to have a healthy fungal glow, so Dark Angels Green basing followed by Snot Green, and highlights using Scorpion Green and Goblin Green with maybe a bit of Golden Yellow. Proper Job!

Need a red? Scab Red! It’s the only way to fly!

And finally time for the Inky Goodness. Black, Red, Chestnut and Dark Green should suit my colour scheme, and an Ardcoat to gloss up blood and metals.

And there we have it. Going to experiment on what of the regular boyz with the scheme to make sure I can do it justice, then tackle my Warboss. I’m also excited to see what Dave has up his sleeves as I know he has made his first purchase for his Tau Army! Here’s hoping it’s somethgin the boyz can krump!!! Waaagh!

So many Paints, so little time…
